  • 1940: 6:30PM John Lennon is born at the Maternity Hospital, Oxford Street, Liverpool.




  • 1961: John and Paul celebrate John’s 21st birthday by hitchhiking to Paris. In aid in getting picked up, they purchase and wear bowler hats. They had planned to keep going to Spain, but stayed in Paris. John and Paul both claim they started the ‘Beatle’ haircut while in Paris, copying the style from Jurgen Vollmer, whom they met on the streets.
  • 1962: Visit to the editorial office of ‘Record Mirror’, 116 Shaftesbury Avenue, London.
  • 1963: Recording for BBC’s ‘The Public Ear’.
  • 1963: ‘She Loves You’, 6th week in the Top 10 (UK New Musical Express chart). ‘Please Please Me’ LP, 29th week in the Top 10 (UK New Musical Express chart).
  • 1963: The Beatles see a Ronald Kirk performance at the Ronnie Scott Club, London.
  • 1963: BBC Paris Studio, London. 10:00-11:00pm. Recording for BBC’s ‘The Ken Dodd Show’: ‘She Loves You’.


  • 1963: Broadcast of ‘The Mersey Sound’ television BBC documentary. It includes images and an interview with Brian.
  • 1964: 6:15pm and 8:20pm. Concert at the Gaumont Theater, Bradford. Start of UK tour, with Mary Wells, Tommy Quickly, Sounds Incorporated, Michael Haslam, the Remo Four, the Rustiks, and Bob Bain.
  • 1965: Party organized by Lionel Bart to celebrate the opening of his new musical ‘Twang!’. Brian and all 4 Beatles among the guests. A separate birthday celebration for John is also held at Lionel Bart’s home. Brian, The Beatles, Lionel Bart, Cynthia, Pattie Boyd, childhood friend Pete Shotton and his wife Beth attend.

  • 1969: Yoko is taken to the King’s College Hospital, London. She suffers a miscarriage.
  • 1970: Abbey Road. End of recordings for ‘John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band’.
  • 1971: Opening of Yoko’s exhibition ‘This Is Not Here’ at the Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, New York. John is guest artist.

  • 1971: John, Yoko, Ringo, Mal Evans, Allen Ginsberg, Eric Clapton, Phil Spector, Klaus Voorman, Neil Aspinal and Jim Keltner celebrate John’s birthday in a New York hotel room. Drunken jam session.

  • 1975: 1:00am. Yoko has throes of childbirth. New York Hospital. Morning: Sean Taro Ono Lennon is born.



  • 1979: John and Sean’s birthdays are celebrated at the restaurant Tavern on the Green, Central Park, New York.
  • 1980: In New York’s sky, planes write congratulatory words for John and Sean, for their birthday.

He was very charming but had a firm hold on what was going on the whole time. After his death I don’t think The Beatles ever trusted anyone in the music business again.”

Happy Birthday Brian Epstein! 
Born on Sept 19, 1934 as Brian Samuel Epstein, he was an English music entrepreneur and the manager of The Beatles up until his death.  He had visited the Cavern Club in Liverpool several times to watch The Beatles play but it was only in January 24, 1962 that The Beatles signed up a management contract with him.  
Epstein died of an accidental drug overdose in August 1967.  He was only 32.
